Our Story

I started Dryer Vent Hero because I saw firsthand the trauma that comes from losing a home, memories, and belongings to fire. My partner’s childhood home had a fire that resulted in a complete loss of the whole home. The fire cause was undetermined but the laundry room had the most damage – being unrecognizable charred remains after falling through to the basement.

Dryer fires are one of the leading causes of home fires in Toronto, and it’s my personal mission to ensure as few people go through the scarring experience of a home fire.

Our pricing changes depending on how accessible and efficient your dryer vent system is. For one residential dryer vent, this can range from $150-$350. We do provide discounts for multiple vents at the same location.

There are many different DIY options, however we strongly recommend hiring a professional. We often help customers where we find damaged ducts or objects lodged in the vent from a prior attempt to remove lint clogs. This damage needs costly repairs.

We use professional equipment because your home deserves it. Providing before and after photos gives you peace of mind so you know your vents have been cleaned professionally and properly to reduce your fire risk, and save you money.

No, we do not offer duct cleaning. Dryer vents are separate from other air/exhaust ducts in the Ontario Building Code, and International Resident’s Code. Since they’re regulated as separate systems, we believe specialists should work on each respective system, so we only specialize in dryer vents.

In addition, the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have found no conclusive proof that air duct cleaning will improve the quality of air you breathe. In fact, the process of duct cleaning can temporarily worsen your air quality as the system is disturbed.

Many duct cleaners advertise that they also do dryer vent cleaning. But they rarely take the time and effort to disconnect your dryer from the inside wall and investigate the most serious fire risks of your clothes dryer system, or recognize when your current installation is against code or poses additional fire risk. Our Hero Technicians are specifically trained and experienced to make your dryer vent system clean, safe, and efficient.
